Cognac marinated figs and chicken skewers: a joyful recipe bursting with flavours!

You’ll be surprised by the sweet taste of fig and the aromas of the Cognac Meukow VS mixed with chicken… It’s as beautiful to see as it is to taste! If this brilliant recipe can be done rather quickly, it needs just a little bit of organization! Indeed, for the magic to happen, you’ll have to let it marinate for two hours, or even better, an entire night…

Ingredients for 2

  • 20 cl of dry white wine
  • Pepper
  • 2 dried figs
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 good-sized chicken-breasts
  • Salt
  • 4 skewers
  • 8 whole fresh figs
  • 5 cl of Cognac VS Meukow
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Preparation (20 minutes of preparation, 2 hours minimum for marinating, 30 minutes on the grill)

Wash and dry the figs, slice them in two and put them aside. Cut the chicken roughly in big dices and put it aside. Mix the dried figs and put them in a bowl. Add to that bowl all the ingredients of the marinade: cognac, white wine, honey, lemon juice, and olive oil. Add all the chicken pieces and fresh figs. Add some salt and pepper. Mix everything together well and let it marinade for at least 2 hours (the entire night would be even better) in the fridge while turning the mix from time to time.

Once the marinade is done, strain the chicken pieces and the fresh figs. Then, put the chicken and the figs alternately on the skewers.

Grill the skewers on the barbecue for about 30 minutes – making sure you’re not placing them too close to the embers – by turning them over and sprinkling them with marinade from time to time.

And voilà, bon appétit!
